Wow – what an airshow!!!

Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow 2024 is being hailed as one of the best ever airshows staged in New Zealand and up with the best Warbirds airshows in the world.

After six long years since the latest edition of this famous event, more than 60,000 people made their way to Wanaka for three amazing days of aviation-related goodness.

Highlights were numerous from the exhilarating F-16 Fighting Falcons to the stunning Mosquito, the immaculate Biggin Hill P-51, the American Eagles Jet display team, a Yak-52 12-ship aerobatic team and an emotional farewell to the RNZAF’s mighty C-130H.  Six hours of non-stop world-class flying on both Saturday and Sunday to a sold out crowd.

Warbirds Over Wanaka organisers have been inundated with messages from fans who attended over Easter.  Event Manager Andrena Davis says most of those who have been in touch have just wanted to say what an amazing time they had.

“Lots of people have said it’s the best Warbirds Over Wanaka they have ever been at.  We know there have been some mighty airshows over the years and we’re just glad to be included amongst the best,” says Andrena.

And while the dust is yet to settle on this airshow, Andrena and the Warbirds team are already looking forward to Easter 2026.

“We have had some valuable feedback about the airshow and all this will be part of our debrief over the next few months so we can deliver an even better experience in two year’s time,” says Andrena.

The next airshow is being held at Easter 2026 (April 3, 4 and 5) and tickets will go on sale in June 2025.
